Workroom Productions: Exercises

A page linking to exercises that I use to teach exploratory testing. I lend these exercises to colleagues from time to time. I teach public workshops a few times a year, and corporate workshops more regularly. Contact me if you'd like to know more. @workroomprds

You'll generally get the most from these exercises if you explore them together. If you need a distraction, play with the puzzles at the bottom of the page.

There's more to add, later.

Questions for Testers

Here's the game

Here's the github with questions to use and cards to print.

Background

Questions for Testers is a silly game with a serious purpose. It’s an easy way to start interesting conversations. I use it to help testers to build connections. QfT works with teams who know each other well, and strangers who share an interest in testing. You can play it online, or in person with cards.

QfT uses a deck of questions about testing; each question has several answers. There are just a few answers for each question, and none are right or wrong. The game is for the group to guess what someone in the group might choose, to compare that with that person's actual choice, and (perhaps) to persuade each other into an alternative
We’ll gather in a large group to say hello and consider the rules, which you'll find on the top card (online) and on the back of each card (printed).
We'll split into smaller groups, each with a handful of people. Each group plays the game, facilitators move between groups. After some time, we reconvene, split into different groups, and play again. Then we exchange contact details, set up times to talk again, and move on.
QfT is based on https://www.sussedthegame.co.uk . QfT is open source, and available for anyone to run at any event. QfT was developed, and is maintained, by @workroomprds.
